I’m Mike Keller, and I’ve been a photographer in the Charleston, WV, area for over 25 years. It’s interesting to carry a camera, either for work or for fun. You participate in things you normally wouldn’t, and in fact, were never invited to begin with. As Susan Sontag wrote, “The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people’s reality, and eventually in one’s own.” What kind of reality does my camera find? I’m never sure.

Hi, i am currently studying photography at college and have moved on to documentary photography recently.
I have been made to analyse and write an essay on a famous Susan Sontag quote,”The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people’s reality, and eventually in one’s own.” and whilst researching it came across your page. if its not too much trouble could you tell me what this quote means to you in slightly more detail to help me understand and further my research.
many thanks
Genea.
